Vision Support America is for those who are noticing vision changes that affect daily life. You may be living with macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, cataracts, glaucoma, or another eye condition—or you may simply know that your vision isn’t what it used to be. We’re here to help.
We are backed by Braille Institute’s century of experience and dedication in serving the blind and low vision community at no cost. Vision Support America exists to meet you where you are -- offering free, practical resources designed to help you adapt, thrive, and keep doing the things you love. Who is this website for?
We help people who are noticing changes in their vision and finding that everyday tasks are becoming harder. You may still have vision, but things like reading mail, using a computer or phone, or reading labels aren’t as easy as they used to be. If your vision loss feels new, gradual, or confusing, Vision Support America can provide practical help and trusted guidance.
Do I need insurance or Medicare to participate?
No. Insurance is not required. All of the support you find on Vision Support America is provided free of charge.
Do you help caregivers or family members too?
Yes. Vision loss affects more than one person, and we welcome caregivers, family members, and loved ones to be part of the conversation. We provide guidance, resources, and practical tips to help you better understand vision changes and support someone you care about, while respecting their independence and preferences.
I’m not very comfortable with technology. Can I still use your services?
Absolutely. You don’t need to be comfortable with technology to get help from us. Many of the people we support prefer to talk by phone, and that’s perfectly okay.
